Problem to solve

Technology in advanced stage of development with an already decided application. There is a need of knowing and quantifying its value in the market in order to decide in further developments and transference model (license/ spin-off).

Steps we took

First, through talks with experts in the relevant industry the multiple benefits that the technology could provide were identified. It was found out that the main benefits were not the ones though before and were affecting different actors in the value chain.

The value that the technology provided to the specific industry was quantified in terms of money and time. Moreover, the impact at regional and national level was quantified as well.

Through an IP landscape and market analysis, an international competitor was identified. A benchmarking analysis was performed over the competitor in order to curate the numbers from the previous analysis.

Results

The benefits and value that the technology provided were identified and quantified. In addition, thanks to the conversations with the experts, technical requirements for a correct implementation were identified. These results helped to decide on the transference model and contacts in the industry were established.
